The functions of pulp molding products are: to contain and protect the packaged product, and to provide convenience and practicality.
Containing and protecting the packaged product is the primary function of pulp molding products. Pulp molding products should reliably contain the packaged product as specified in the packaging, ensuring that the packaged product is not damaged during transportation, loading and unloading, and use, while meeting the requirements for strength, rigidity, and stability. The materials used in the pulp molding products are also safe for the packaged product, and the two do not interact.
Convenience of use means that the structure of the pulp molding product should be ergonomic. The structure and shape of the pulp molding product should not endanger the human body and should be adaptable to human operation and handling during use.
Furthermore, pulp molding products extend the corresponding time and absorb external energy through their special structure's deformation under load, thereby reducing the impact and vibration on the packaged item. Unlike foam plastic packaging, which relies on numerous compressible pores within its structure, pulp-film packaging offers superior cushioning regardless of shape. If a large flat surface is created using pulp-film and foam plastic, the former will provide cushioning, while the latter will not. Therefore, for pulp-film products, a well-designed structure is fundamental for protecting the contents and enhancing shock absorption during transport and handling. The designed structure directly impacts the strength, rigidity, stability, and usability of the packaging; in other words, the structure of pulp-film products directly influences the realization of their packaging function.
